§ 45.48. Veterans outreach and recovery program.

45.48(1) (1) To be funded from the appropriation under s. 20.485 (2) (qs) , the department shall administer a program to provide outreach, mental health services, and support to individuals who reside in this state, who may have a mental health condition or substance use disorder, and who meet one of the following conditions: 45.48(1)(a) (a) Are serving in the national guard of any state or a reserve component of the U.S. armed forces. 45.48(1)(b) (b) Served on active duty in the U.S. armed forces, forces incorporated as part of the U.S. armed forces, a reserve component of the U.S. armed forces, or the national guard of any state and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. 45.48(1m) (1m) The department shall expend at least $100,000 annually under sub. (1) to promote suicide prevention and awareness by providing outreach, mental health services, and support to individuals who are members of a traditionally underserved population, including minority groups and individuals who reside in rural areas of the state.
