§ 590. Definitions As used in this chapter:

  • (1) “Adaptation” means reducing vulnerability and advancing resilience through planned
    and implemented enhancements to, or avoiding degradation of, natural and built systems
    and structures. (2) “Greenhouse gas” has the same meaning as in section 552 of this title. (3) “Mitigation” means reduction of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, and preservation
