§ TN.504.655. CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS PLATES
CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS PLATES. (a) The department shall issue specialty license plates to raise awareness of childhood cancer. The department shall design the license plates in consultation with an organization that seeks to raise awareness of childhood cancer in this state. (b) After deduction of the department's administrative costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates shall be deposited to the credit of an account created by the comptroller in the manner provided by Section 504.6012 (b). Money deposited to that account may be used by the General Land Office only to provide grants to benefit organizations operating in this state that raise awareness of, conduct research on, or provide services for persons diagnosed with childhood cancer. (c) The General Land Office and an organization that receives a grant under Subsection (b) may enter into a memorandum of understanding establishing the respective duties of the General Land Office and the organization in relation to carrying out the purposes of that subsection. (d) Section 504.702 does not apply to a specialty license plate issued under this section. Added by Acts 2017, 85th Leg., R.S., Ch. 865 (H.B. 2700 ), Sec. 1, eff. September 1, 2017.
