§ TN.501.107. APPLICABILITY OF SUBCHAPTER TO RECYCLER

APPLICABILITY OF SUBCHAPTER TO RECYCLER. (a) This subchapter does not apply to a sale to, purchase by, or other transaction by or with, a metal recycler except as provided by Subsections (b) and (c). (b) A metal recycler shall submit to the department the properly assigned manufacturer's certificate of origin, regular certificate of title, nonrepairable vehicle title, salvage vehicle title, or comparable out-of-state ownership document that the person receives in conjunction with the purchase of a motor vehicle not later than the 60th day after the date the metal recycler receives the title or out-of-state ownership document. (c) This subchapter applies to a transaction with a metal recycler in which a motor vehicle: (1) is sold or delivered to the metal recycler for the purpose of reuse or resale as a motor vehicle or as a source of used parts; and (2) is used for that purpose.
