§ PW.66.018. CRAB TRAP TAGS
CRAB TRAP TAGS. (a) The department may issue tags for crab traps placed in public water. (b) The commission may make regulations for the safe use of crab traps and to carry out the provisions of this section. (c) A crab trap tag issued under this section shall be attached to each crab trap placed in public water. The department may collect a maximum fee of $1.50 for each tag issued under this section; provided, however, that upon adoption of a crab management plan and the establishment of a crab advisory committee, the commission may determine the amount of the fee. (d) No person may place a crab trap in public water unless a crab trap tag is attached to the trap unless a proclamation under Subchapter B , Chapter 78 , requires a license that does not require the use of crab trap tags. (e) This section shall not apply to persons taking crabs from public water for personal use. (f) If the commission adopts a license under Subchapter B , Chapter 78 , the department may not collect a fee for any crab trap tag. Added by Acts 1991, 72nd Leg., ch. 908, Sec. 1, eff.
