§ HR.81.019. SYMBOLS OR OTHER FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION FOR PERSONS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENTS
SYMBOLS OR OTHER FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION FOR PERSONS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENTS. (a) The department shall design and provide for the issuance of a symbol or other form of identification that may be attached to a motor vehicle regularly operated by a person who is deaf or hard of hearing. (b) A person who is deaf or hard of hearing may apply to the department for the symbol or other form of identification. The department may require acceptable medical proof that a person is deaf or hard of hearing and may collect a fee for each symbol or other form of identification to defray the costs of administering this section. The executive commissioner shall establish the fee. (c) The department may contract with a state or local agency for the distribution of the symbol or other form of identification.
