§ ED.51.881. DEFINITIONS
DEFINITIONS. In this subchapter: (1) "Advisory committee" means the committee established under Section 38.202 . (2) "Anaphylaxis" means a sudden, severe, and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs when a person is exposed to an allergen. (3) "Campus" means an educational unit under the management and control of an institution of higher education and may include, in addition to the main campus, off-campus and secondary locations, such as branch campuses, teaching locations, and regional centers. (4) "Epinephrine auto-injector" means a disposable medical drug delivery device that contains a premeasured single dose of epinephrine that is intended to be used to treat anaphylaxis. (4-a) "Epinephrine delivery system" means a medical delivery device approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration that delivers a dose of epinephrine intended for use to treat anaphylaxis, including: (A) an epinephrine auto-injector; and (B) an epinephrine nasal spray. (5) "Institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003 . (6) "Personnel" means employees of an institution of higher education. (7) "Physician" means a person who holds a license to practice medicine in this state. Added by Acts 2017, 85th Leg., R.S., Ch. 206 (S.B. 1367 ), Sec. 3, eff. September 1, 2017.
