§ GV.2306.027. ELIGIBILITY

ELIGIBILITY. (a) The governor shall appoint to the board public members who have a demonstrated interest in issues related to housing and community support services. A person appointed to the board must be a registered voter in the state and may not hold another public office. (b) Appointments to the board shall be made without regard to the race, color, disability, sex, religion, age, or national origin of the appointees and shall be made in a manner that produces representation on the board of the different geographical regions of this state. Appointments to the board must broadly reflect the geographic, economic, cultural, and social diversity of the state, including ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, and women. (c) A person may not be a member of the board if the person or the person's spouse: (1) is employed by or participates in the management of a business entity or other organization regulated by or receiving money from the department; (2) owns or controls, directly or indirectly, more than a 10 percent interest in a business entity or other organization regulated by or receiving money from the department; or (3) uses or receives a substantial amount of tangible goods, services, or money from the department other than compensation or reimbursement authorized by law for board membership, attendance, or expenses.
