§ 8-16-307. Performance of notarial acts.

An online notary public: Is a notary public for purposes of this chapter, is subject to this chapter, and must be appointed and commissioned as a notary public under this chapter; May perform notarial acts as provided in part 1 of this chapter; and May perform an online notarization, without regard to the physical location of the principal, if the notary is physically located in this state. Acts 2018, ch. 931, § 2. Effective Dates. Acts 2018, ch. 931, § 5. July 1, 2019; provided that for administrative and rulemaking purposes, the act took effect May 15, 2018.
