§ 70-4-127. Dove-baiting prohibited.
It is a criminal offense to bait a field or other area. “Bait,” as used in this section, means the intentional placement of grain or any mixture of any ingredients used as or for food purposes for the purpose of killing, injuring, or capturing doves. “Bait” does not include the broadcasting or sowing of grain or seed for normal agricultural purposes, the placement of salt pans or troughs for livestock, the practice of leaving or manipulating standing crops in a field, or other normal agricultural practices customarily practiced on the land. Any person who enters upon the lands of another to bait a field or other area commits criminal trespass, and, upon conviction, shall be punished in accordance with § 39-14-405. Any person who baits a field or other area or any person who assists, employs or directs another to do so commits a Class C misdemeanor.
