§ 2-17-102. Contests for offices of general assembly members.

Contests for the office of senator in the general assembly are decided by the senate, and contests for the office of representative in the general assembly are decided by the house of representatives. Acts 1972, ch. 740, § 1; T.C.A., § 2-1702. Attorney General Opinions. The qualifications of a person to hold the office of state senator may be challenged at two different times: first, at the time of placement of qualified candidates' names on the ballot by a county election commission prior to the election; and second, after the election but prior to the taking of the oath in an election contest in the state senate, OAG 02-032 (3/15/02).
