§ 3921.01.

As used in this chapter: (A) “ Benefit contract ” means an agreement, as described in division (A) of section 3921.19 of the Revised Code , under which a fraternal benefit society agrees to provide any benefit set forth

in division (A) of section 3921.16 of the Revised Code . (B) “ Benefit member ” means an adult member of a fraternal benefit society who is designated by the laws

or rules of the society to be eligible for benefits under a benefit contract. (C) “ Certificate ” means the document issued as written evidence of the benefit contract. (D) “Laws,” unless the context indicates otherwise, means the articles of incorporation,

charter, constitution, and bylaws, however designated, of a fraternal benefit society. (E) “ Lodge ” means the subordinate member units of a fraternal benefit society, known as camps,

courts, councils, branches, or by any other designation. (F) “ Premium ” means the premiums, rates, dues, or other required contributions payable under the

certificate. (G) “Rules,” unless the context indicates otherwise, means the rules, regulations, or

resolutions adopted by the supreme governing body or board of directors of a fraternal

benefit society that are intended to have general application to all of the members

of the society.
