§ 1729.02.
(A) An association may be organized under this chapter for any lawful purpose permitted
to corporations by the laws of this state, except any such purpose that is inconsistent
with the provisions of this chapter or other chapters of Title XVII of the Revised
Code. This section does not authorize any professional services otherwise prohibited by
law. (B) Associations shall be corporations that are deemed nonprofit because they are not
organized for the purpose of making a profit for themselves as such, or for the purpose
of making a profit for their members as such, but for their members as patrons. This chapter and not Chapter 1702. of the Revised Code shall govern associations. (C) A municipal power agency, as “ municipal power agency ” is defined in section 3734.058 of the Revised Code , is not an association for the purposes of this chapter. (D) This chapter shall be known as the “Ohio Cooperative Law.”
