§ 4501.31.
(A) No driver's license, commercial driver's license, temporary instruction permit, and
identification card issued by the registrar of motor vehicles or a deputy registrar
on or after the effective date of this amendment shall display the social security
number of the person to whom the license, permit, or card is issued unless the person
to whom the license, permit, or card is to be issued specifically requests that the
person's social security number be displayed on the license, permit, or card. If federal law requires the person's social security number to be displayed on the
license, permit, or card, the social security number shall be displayed on the license,
permit, or card notwithstanding this division. (B) For purposes of compliance with subparagraph (b)(1)(B) of section 656 of Public Law No. 104-208 , as statutorily noted under 5 U.S.C.A. 301 , the registrar shall do both of the following: (1) Require every applicant for a driver's license, temporary instruction permit, commercial
driver's license, or identification card to submit the applicant's social security
number, if one has been assigned; (2) Verify that the number is valid.
