§ 3701.53.

The health commissioner of a city or general health district shall: (A) Investigate each case of inflammation of eyes of the newborn or gonorrheal ophthalmia

as filed with the health commissioner and any other such case that comes to the health

commissioner's attention; (B) Report all cases of inflammation of the eyes of the newborn or gonorrheal ophthalmia,

and the result of all such investigations, as the department of health directs; (C) Conform to such other rules and regulations as the department promulgates for the

health commissioner's further guidance; (D) Determine the nature of the inflammation of the eyes in any case reported to the

health commissioner, and refer immediately to the bureau of services for the visually

impaired, any inflammation of the eyes, for such treatment as the bureau deems necessary.
