§ 74C-1. Title.

This Chapter may be cited as the Private Protective Services Act. The purpose of this act is to increase the level of integrity, competency, and performance of Private Protective Service Professions in order to safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare. History (1979, c. 818, s. 2; 1989, c. 759, s. 1.) Editor's Note. - Session Laws 1983, c. 673, s. 1, designated G.S. 74C-1 through 74C-19 as Article 1 of Chapter 74C and enacted Article 2 thereof. Session Laws 2014-100, s. 17.5(a), provides: "The Private Protective Services Board and the Alarm Systems Licensing Board are hereby transferred to the Department of Public Safety. These transfers shall have all of the elements of a Type II transfer, as described in G.S. 143A-6 ." Session Laws 2014-100, s. 1.1, provides: "This act shall be known as 'The Current Operations and Capital Improvements Appropriations Act of 2014.'" Session Laws 2014-100, s. 38.4, provides: "Except for statutory changes or other provisions that clearly indicate an intention to have effects beyond the 2014-2015 fiscal year, the textual provisions of this act apply only to funds appropriated for, and activities occurring during, the 2014-2015 fiscal year."
