§ 66-398. License renewal.

Notwithstanding any provision of this Part to the contrary, any person, firm, or corporation licensed as a pawnbroker on or before October 1, 1989, shall continue in force until the natural expiration thereof and all other provisions of this Part shall apply to such license. Such pawnbroker shall be eligible for renewal of his license upon its expiration or subsequent renewals, provided such license complies with the requirements for renewal that were in effect immediately prior to October 1, 1989. Editor's Note. - Former G.S. 91A-13 was recodified as this section by Session Laws 2012-46, s. 2, effective October 1, 2012, and applicable to offenses committed on or after that date. Session Laws 2012-46, s. 33, provides: "This act becomes effective October 1, 2012, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date. Prosecutions for offenses committed before the effective date of this act are not abated or affected by this act, and the statutes that would be applicable but for this act remain applicable to those prosecutions."
