§ 20-402. Applicability to vehicles other than fully autonomous vehicles.
Definitions. - As used in this section, a "request to intervene" means notification by a vehicle to the human operator that the operator should promptly begin or resume performance of part or all of the dynamic driving task. Applicability. - Operation of a motor vehicle equipped with an automated driving system capable of performing the entire dynamic driving task with the expectation that a human operator will respond appropriately to a request to intervene is lawful under this Chapter and subject to the provisions of this Chapter. History (2017-166, s. 1.) Editor's Note. - Session Laws 2017-166, s. 2 provides: "This act [which enacted this Article] becomes effective December 1, 2017, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date. Prosecutions for offenses committed before the effective date of this act are not abated or affected by this act, and the statutes that would be applicable but for this act remain applicable to those prosecutions."
