§ 115C-563. Definitions.

As used in this Part or Parts 1 and 2 of this Article: "Home school" means a nonpublic school consisting of the children of not more than two families or households, where the parents or legal guardians or members of either household determine the scope and sequence of academic instruction, provide academic instruction, and determine additional sources of academic instruction. "Duly authorized representative of the State" means the Director, Division of Nonpublic Education, or his staff. History (1987 (Reg. Sess., 1988), c. 891, s. 1; 2013-57, s. 1.) Editor's Note. - Session Laws 2013-57, s. 2, made Session Laws 2013-57, s. 1, which rewrote subsection (a), applicable beginning with the 2013-2014 school year. Effect of Amendments. - Session Laws 2013-57, s. 1, effective May 30, 2013, substituted "Article" for "section" in the introductory language; and rewrote subdivision (a), which formerly read: "'Home school' means a nonpublic school in which one or more children of not more than two families or households receive academic instruction from parents or legal guardians, or a member of either household."
