§ 115C-375. 3. Guidelines to support and assist students with diabetes.
Local boards of education and boards of directors of charter schools shall ensure that the guidelines adopted by the State Board of Education under G.S. 115C-12(31) are implemented in schools in which students with diabetes are enrolled. In particular, the boards shall require the implementation of the procedures set forth in those guidelines for the development and implementation of individual diabetes care plans. The boards also shall make available necessary information and staff development to teachers and school personnel in order to appropriately support and assist students with diabetes in accordance with their individual diabetes care plans. History (2005-22, s. 3(a), (b); 2009-563, s. 1; 2015-241, s. 8.25(e).) Editor's Note. - This section was formerly codified as G.S. 115C-47(42) . It was recodified as G.S. 115C-375.3 by Session Laws 2005-22, s. 3(a), effective April 28, 2005. Effect of Amendments. - Session Laws 2005-22, s. 3(b), effective April 28, 2005, deleted "to implement" at the beginning of the section heading. Session Laws 2009-563, s. 1, effective August 28, 2009, and applicable beginning with the 2009-2010 school year, inserted "and boards of directors of charter schools" in the first sentence; substituted "The boards" for "Local boards" at the beginning of the third sentence; and added the last two sentences of the section. Session Laws 2015-241, s. 8.25(e), effective July 1, 2015, deleted the former last two sentences, which read: "Local boards of education and boards of directors of charter schools shall report to the State Board of Education annually, on or before August 15, whether they have students with diabetes enrolled and provide information showing compliance with the guidelines adopted by the State Board of Education under G.S. 115C-12(31) . These reports shall be in compliance with the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, 20 U.S.C. § 1232g."
