§ 115C-160. Definitions.
The State Board of Education shall provide appropriate definitions necessary to this part of career and technical education instruction not otherwise included in this Part. As used in this Part, the following definitions apply, unless the context requires otherwise: The term "building trades training" means the development of career skills through the construction of dwellings or other buildings and related activities by students in career and technical education programs. The term "production work" means production activities and services performed by students in career and technical education classes under contract with a second party for remuneration. Editor's Note. - Session Laws 2017-57, s. 7.23H(k), made the amendment to this section by Session Laws 2017-57, s. 7.23H(e), applicable beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. Session Laws 2017-57, s. 1.1, provides: "This act shall be known as the 'Current Operations Appropriations Act of 2017.'" Session Laws 2017-57, s. 39.6, is a severability clause. Effect of Amendments. - Session Laws 2017-57, s. 7.23H(e), effective July 1, 2017, in this section substituted "career" for "vocational" in three places, added "the following definitions apply" in the introductory text, and substituted "students in career" for "vocational" in subdivision (2).
