§ 10B-200. (Expires December 31, 2021 - see note) Applicability.
This Article applies to the witnessing and signature of all records, as defined in G.S. 10B-3(19), signed, by a principal physically located in the State of North Carolina, on or after the effective date of this act. This Article expires December 31, 2021. No action described in this Article constitutes a notarial act, as defined in G.S. 10B-3(11), and no action described in this Article is governed by Article 1 or 2 of this Chapter. History (2020-3, s. 4.2(a); 2020-74, s. 27(c); 2020-80, s. 2.9(c); 2021-3, s. 2.10(b).) Expiration of Article. - For expiration of this Article, see G.S. 10B-200(b). Editor's Notes. - Session Laws 2020-3, s. 4.2(b), made this Article effective May 4, 2020. Session Laws 2020-3, s. 5, is a severability clause. Session Laws 2020-80, s. 2.9(c), effective July 1, 2020, was not in the coded bill drafting format provided by G.S. 120-20.1, as the changes to the text were not set out with the proper underscoring or strike-through coding showing the amendments. Therefore, the text of subsection (b) in Session Laws 2020-80, s. 2.9(c), replaces the previous text of subsection (b) in full. Session Laws 2020-74, s. 27(c), which is in the coded bill drafting format provided by G.S,. 120-20.1, and Session Laws 2020-80, s. 2.9(c), which is not in the coded bill drafting format, made identical changes to subsection (b). Session Laws 2020-80, s. 3.5, is a severability clause. Effect of Amendments. - Session Laws 2020-74, s. 27(c), effective July 1, 2020, substituted "March 1, 2021" for "August 1, 2020" in subsection (b).
