§ 108A-50. 1. Special Needs Adoptions Incentive Fund.

There is created a Special Needs Adoptions Incentive Fund to provide financial assistance to facilitate the adoption of certain children residing in licensed foster care homes. These funds shall be used to remove financial barriers to the adoption of these children and shall be available to foster care families who adopt children with special needs, as defined by the Social Services Commission. These funds shall be matched by county funds. This program shall not constitute an entitlement and is subject to the availability of funds. The Social Services Commission shall adopt rules to implement the provisions of this section. History (2003-284, s. 10.45.) Editor's Note. - This section was enacted as G.S 108A-50A and was redesignated as G.S. 108A-50.1 at the direction of the Revisor of Statutes. Session Laws 2000-67, s. 11.16, effective July 1, 2000, creates a Special Needs Adoptions Incentive Fund to provide financial assistance to facilitate the adoption of special needs children residing in licensed foster care homes, effective January 1, 2001. These funds are to be matched by county funds. This program does not constitute an entitlement and is subject to availability of funds. The Social Services Commission is to adopt rules to implement the provisions of this section. Session Laws 2000-67, s. 1.1, provides: "This act shall be known as 'The Current Operations and Capital Improvements Appropriations Act of 2000.' "
