§ 138A-9. Staff and offices.
The Commission may employ professional and clerical staff, including an executive director. The Commission shall be located within the Department of Administration for administrative purposes only, but shall exercise all of its powers, including the power to employ, direct, and supervise all personnel, independently of the Secretary of Administration, and is subject to the direction and supervision of the Secretary of Administration only with respect to the management functions of coordinating and reporting. The Department shall provide administrative support to the Commission free of charge. History (2006-201, s. 1; 2015-241, s. 27.1; 2017-6, ss. 4(c), 5(d); 2018-146, ss. 3.1(a), (b), 3.3(d).) Editor's Note. - This section was repealed by Session Laws 2017-6, s. 5(d), with similar provisions recodified at now former G.S. 163A-3 by Session Laws 2017-6, s. 4(c). Former G.S. 163A-3 was repealed by Session Laws 2018-146, s. 3.1(b), and the former provisions of this section were re-recodified by Session Laws 2018-146, s. 3.1(a), effective January 31, 2019. The historical citations from the former sections have been added to this section as re-recodified. Former G.S. 163A-7, which authorized the former Bipartisan State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement to obtain criminal records checks, was recodified in Chapter 163 as G.S. 163-27.2 at the direction of the Revisor of Statutes.
