§ 115C-105. 52. School crisis kits.
The Center for Safer Schools, in consultation with the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Public Instruction, Division of School Operations, may develop and adopt policies on the placement of school crisis kits in schools and on the contents of those kits. The kits should include, at a minimum, basic first-aid supplies, communications devices, and other items recommended by the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The principal of each school, in coordination with the law enforcement agencies that are part of the local board of education's School Risk Management Plan, may place one or more crisis kits at appropriate locations in the school. History (2013-360, s. 8.42; 2015-241, s. 8.26(e); 2018-97, s. 2.4(c).) Editor's Note. - Session Laws 2015-241, s. 8.26(p), made the amendments to this section by Session Laws 2015-241, s. 8.26(e), applicable beginning with the 2015-2016 school year. Session Laws 2015-241, s. 1.1, provides: "This act shall be known as 'The Current Operations and Capital Improvements Appropriations Act of 2015.'" Session Laws 2015-241, s. 33.6, is a severability clause. Effect of Amendments. - Session Laws 2015-241, s. 8.26(e), effective July 1, 2015, substituted "School Risk Management Plan" for "emergency response plan" in the second paragraph. For applicability, see editor's note. Session Laws 2018-97, s. 2.4(c), effective July 1, 2018, substituted "The Center for Safer Schools, in consultation with the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Public Instruction, Division of School Operations" for "The Department of Public Instruction, in consultation with the Department of Public Safety through the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools" in the first sentence.
