§ 23-1-7. Penalty for exceeding appropriations

Any person violating any of the provisions of the two preceding sections shall be

deemed guilty of a felony, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine

not exceeding $500 nor less than $100, or by imprisonment in the penitentiary for

not less than six months nor more than one year, or by both such fine and imprisonment

in the discretion of the court trying such cause.
