§ 52:27bb-8.

The director, in addition to powers and duties specifically granted shall have the

following general powers and duties: To (1) Administer the work of the division. (2) Keep and preserve all papers and records pertaining to the division. (3) Receive and preserve as public records all papers, reports and other documents

required to be filed with the division. (4) Prescribe the organization of the division and the duties of his subordinates

and assistants. (5) Administer State laws, pertaining to local government, which are included within

the jurisdiction of the division. (6) Recommend to the board reasonable rules and regulations for the interpretation

and administration of the laws administered by the division. (7) Invoke any legal, equitable or special remedy for the enforcement of orders and

the provisions of law administered by the division. (8) Offer advice, consultation and instruction to local officials in improved methods

of local administration.
