§ 34:15-91.

The commissioner of banking and insurance is authorized to employ an actuary and necessary

assistants and to fix their compensation, subject to the provisions of Title 11, Civil

Service, except where otherwise provided by statute; to compel the production of

all books, data, papers and records necessary for the actuary to compile statistics

for determining the pure cost of workmen's compensation and employers' liability insurance;

and to examine, either personally or through any person appointed by him, the pay

roll records and workmen's compensation or employers' liability policies and all data

relating to such records and policies of any employer subject to the provisions of

this article in order to determine whether such provisions are being complied with. The information in the possession of the actuary shall be available to the compensation

rating and inspection bureau in fixing rates.
