§ 18a:64h-7.

The standards for the expenditure of funds by private nonprofit and public hospitals

pursuant to this act shall include, but shall not be limited to: a. The relationship of the program to the graduate and undergraduate teaching programs

of the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey 1 and other United States accredited medical and osteopathic schools; b. The hospital's need for added support for full-time hospital physicians in charge

of services or departments maintaining approved graduate medical education programs; c. The need for support of costs related to the training of graduate medical students; d. The need for support of costs related to salaries of students enrolled in graduate

medical training programs; e. The need for support of traditional medical and audiovisual libraries necessary

for graduate training programs at the hospital; f. The need to encourage graduate training in those specialties demonstrated to have

critical manpower shortages relative to the needs of New Jersey (for example, the

current shortage of family physicians). 1
