§ 751.. Schedule

Except as provided in any other provision of law, registers of deeds shall receive the following fees for:   [PL 1993, c. 560, §3 (AMD).]

1.  (TEXT EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1/01/26) Instruments generally.  Receiving, recording and indexing any instrument that may be recorded and for which a specific fee is not set forth in this section or in any other section, the sum of $19 for the first record page and $2 for each additional record page or portion of an additional record page. In addition, if more than 4 names are to be indexed, a fee of $1 must be paid for each additional name, counting all grantors and grantees;

A. Twenty-five dollars per instrument recorded at the request of the State or a municipality; and   [PL 2025, c. 328, §2 (NEW); PL 2025, c. 328, §10 (AFF).]

B. Thirty-five dollars per instrument recorded at the request of all other persons.   [PL 2025, c. 328, §2 (NEW); PL 2025, c. 328, §10 (AFF).]

2.  Discharge. 

3.  Municipal quitclaim deed. 

4.  Copy of writ of attachment in unincorporated place. 

5.  Certain corporation certificates. 

6.  Copy of process against domestic corporation. 

7.  Organization of nonprofit corporation. 

8.  Federal liens. 

9.  (TEXT EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1/01/26) Plans.  Recording, indexing and preserving plans, the sum of $21;

10.  Municipal and unorganized territory tax liens. 

11.  Mortgage foreclosure. 

12.  District liens. 

13.  Secured transactions. 

13-A.  (TEXT EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1/01/26) Previously recorded instrument.  An instrument satisfying, releasing, discharging, assigning, subordinating, continuing, amending or extending an instrument previously recorded in the county in which recording is requested must make reference to only one previously recorded instrument, or a fee of $13 for each additional previously recorded instrument referred to must be paid.

14-B.  Paper copies.  Making paper copies of records at the office of the register of deeds as follows:

14-C.  Abstracts and copies. 

14-D.  (TEXT EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1/01/26) Downloads of 1,000 or more consecutive electronic images or electronic abstracts from a county registry of deeds.  Acquiring downloads of 1,000 or more consecutive electronic images or electronic abstracts from a county registry of deeds equipped to provide downloads of images or electronic abstracts, 5¢ per image or electronic abstract;

14-D.  (TEXT EFFECTIVE 1/01/26) Downloads of 1,000 or more consecutive electronic images from a county registry of deeds.  Acquiring downloads of 1,000 or more consecutive electronic images from a county registry of deeds that is equipped to and voluntarily agrees to provide downloads of 1,000 or more consecutive electronic images pursuant to a written agreement with the person requesting the downloads, 25¢ per image;

14-E.  (TEXT EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1/01/26) Electronic images, printed images or electronic abstracts from a county registry of deeds website.  Acquiring electronic images, printed images or electronic abstracts from a county registry of deeds website as follows:

A. No charge for the first 500 images or electronic abstracts, or a combination of the first 500 images and electronic abstracts, acquired by a person in a calendar year; and   [PL 2013, c. 370, §5 (NEW).]

B. Fifty cents per image or electronic abstract for each subsequent image or electronic abstract after 500 acquired in the same calendar year; and   [PL 2013, c. 370, §5 (NEW).]

14-E.  (TEXT EFFECTIVE 1/01/26) Electronic images or printed images from a county registry of deeds website.  Acquiring electronic images or printed images from a county registry of deeds website:

A. No charge for the first 400 electronic images acquired by a person in a calendar year;   [PL 2025, c. 328, §7 (AMD); PL 2025, c. 328, §10 (AFF).]

B. Fifty cents per electronic image for each subsequent image after 400 electronic images acquired under paragraph A in the same calendar year, except that a municipality may not be charged a fee under this paragraph for acquisition of any number of electronic images from a county registry of deeds website; and   [PL 2025, c. 328, §7 (AMD); PL 2025, c. 328, §10 (AFF).]

C. One dollar per printed image acquired, not including any applicable postage rates set by the county; and   [PL 2025, c. 328, §7 (NEW); PL 2025, c. 328, §10 (AFF).]

15.  When payable.  Fees provided by this section shall be paid when the instrument is offered for record, except that fees payable by the State shall be paid monthly by the department or agencies requesting the recording, upon rendition of bills by the register of deeds. Said bills shall be paid within 10 days of receipt of same by the department or agencies.
