§ 7.
Payment and denial of claims. (a) In general. The Director shall order the payment from appropriations made for that purpose of grants to claimants under this Act in the amounts to which the Department has determined they are entitled, respectively. If a claim is denied, the Director shall cause written notice of that denial and the reasons for that denial to be sent to the claimant. (b) Payment of claims one dollar and under. Where the amount of the grant computed under Section 4 is less than one dollar, the Department shall pay to the claimant one dollar. (c) Right to appeal. Any person aggrieved by an action or determination of the Department on Aging arising under any of its powers or duties under this Act may request in writing that the Department on Aging reconsider its action or determination, setting out the facts upon which the request is based. The Department on Aging shall consider the request and either modify or affirm its prior action or determination.
