§ 7.

Applicability of Act. Nothing contained in this Act shall be construed to limit the means in which effective communication is achieved under the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This Act requires that when effective communication under the ADA is achieved through a sign language interpreter, the sign language interpreter must be licensed under this Act, unless covered by an exemption. Nothing in this Act shall be construed to prohibit the use of technology or other forms of effective communication when accepted by the consumer. (Source: P.A. 95-617, eff. 9-12-07.)
