§ 150-50.
Certain townships under 5,000 population. (a) Any township (i) in which a majority of those voting on the question voted in favor of levying a tax for the establishment, erection, and maintenance of a community building under the provisions of "An Act to authorize towns having a population of fewer than 5,000 inhabitants to purchase, acquire, establish, erect and maintain community buildings," approved June 30, 1919, as amended (repealed), (ii) in which the tax has been levied, and (iii) in which a board of managers has been elected and property acquired for a community building and in which the tax has not been discontinued in the manner provided in that repealed Act, may continue to levy and collect a tax of not more than 0.05% of value, as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue, for the establishment, erection, and maintenance of a community building and to elect a board of managers in the manner provided in this Article, notwithstanding the fact that the township now has a population of more than 5,000. All the provisions of this Article, including those for the issuance of bonds, the expenditure of the proceeds, and the use and management of community buildings, are applicable to the township, and the board of managers elected in the township has all the powers and duties of boards of managers under this Article. The proceeds of any tax levied and collected in the township for the establishment, erection, and maintenance of a community building shall be held and used by the board of managers of the township for that purpose.
