Editor's note: Subsection (3) provided for the repeal of this section, effective January 1, 2025, if a majority of the electors voting in the November 5, 2024, election vote "Yes/For" the ballot issue referred to the voters pursuant to § 44-30-1517 (2). The ballot issue specified in § 44-30-1517 (2) was referred to the registered electors as Proposition JJ on November 5, 2024, see L. 2025, p. 3635. It was approved by the voters and proclaimed by the Governor on December 17, 2024, with the following vote count:
