§ 16421. Except as otherwise provided in this part or in subdivision (b), every person tha

(a) Except as otherwise provided in this part or in subdivision (b), every person that violates this part is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), by imprisonment of not less than 10 days nor more than one year, or by both the fine and imprisonment. Each violation during any day shall constitute a separate offense. (b) Every person who violates the following is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), by imprisonment of not less than 10 days nor more than six months, or by both the fine and imprisonment. Each violation during any day shall constitute a separate offense: (1) Article 1 (commencing with Section 16501) of Chapter 3. (2) Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 16801). (3) Article 5 (commencing with Section 17121) of Chapter 7. (4) Chapter 8 (commencing with Section 17150).
