§ 10123.2. On and after the effective date of this section, every self-insured employee welf
On and after the effective date of this section, every self-insured employee welfare benefit plan which provides coverage for hospital, medical, or surgical expenses shall offer coverage to physically handicapped persons for such expenses incurred, under such terms and conditions as are normally provided by the self-insured welfare benefit plan and a member without physical handicap. Every self-insured welfare benefit plan shall communicate the availability of such coverage to all members and prospective members. The self-insured welfare benefit plan shall not be required to cover hospital, medical, or surgical expenses arising as a direct result of a physically disabled personâs handicap.
