§ 6-61-518. Reconstituted districts.
When it is proposed that a county or city join an existing community college district, an election may be held in the proposed city or county to be added to determine whether the proposed reconstituted district shall be established after a petition requesting that the county or city be permitted to join the district has been signed by a committee broadly representative of the county or city to be added and approved by the local board of the existing district. The procedures for an election to be held in the petitioning county or city to determine whether the proposed reconstituted district shall be formed, including the adoption of the millage tax for support of the community college in effect in the existing district, shall be the same as required in establishing an original community college district.
