§ 6-51-217. Change of name to “technical institute”.
The State Board of Career Education shall establish a technical curriculum that must be offered by any vocational-technical school requesting permission to change its name pursuant to this section to “technical institute”. The board shall periodically review and revise, if necessary, this technical curriculum requirement. Any vocational-technical school which satisfies the curriculum requirements established by the board pursuant to subsection (a) of this section may, in accordance with procedures to be adopted by the board, seek approval from the board to change its name from “ Vocational-Technical School” to “ Technical Institute”. Upon approval by the board of any such application, the school shall be renamed and become a technical institute.
