§ 12-12-1702. Purpose.
The purpose of this subchapter is to: Provide a system for the reporting of known or suspected adult and long-term care facility resident maltreatment; Ensure the screening, safety assessment, and prompt investigation of reports of known or suspected adult and long-term care facility resident maltreatment; Provide for a civil action, if appropriate, to protect maltreated adults and long-term care facility residents; and Encourage the cooperation of state law enforcement officials, courts, and state agencies in the investigation and assessment of maltreated adults and long-term care facility residents, and prosecution of offenders.
