§ 6-5-1101. Legislative intent.

The General Assembly finds that: Public schools should help all students: Have the reading, writing, and mathematics skills needed to succeed in all first-year coursework in associate and baccalaureate degree programs in non-mathematics-based majors; and Be ready for as many career options as possible by having a base level of employability; and The development of college and career readiness standards should be undertaken as an integrative process among: The General Assembly; State agencies that regulate and support the public educational systems of the state; Kindergarten, elementary, secondary, and postsecondary educational institutions; and The public.
