§ 26.0503. Permits for otherwise prohibited signs.

(a) Any sign otherwise prohibited by this chapter may be allowed by the government by the issuance of a special sign permit, for which a fee of $2 must be charged. (b) In the issuance of such special sign permits, the following guidelines shall be considered: (1) whether the proposed sign would in any way interfere with or detract from the natural beauty and attractiveness of American Samoa; (2) whether the purpose sought to be served could also be served by a sign which would be permissible under 26.0502; (3) whether the proposed sign would in any way interfere with traffic or pose a safety hazard. (c) Special sign permits are not to be issued indiscriminately, but only when the need for them is shown and the purpose to be served is a worthy one.
