§ 32-9C-3. Liability Coverage for Operation of a Fully Autonomous Vehicle.
A fully autonomous vehicle may operate on public roads in this state only if a person submits proof to the Department of Revenue of financial responsibility that the fully autonomous vehicle has single limits liability coverage, by contract of insurance or by qualifying as a self-insurer, of not less than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000).Source: official Alabama text · Last verified 2026-08-27
