§ 13A-6-43. Kidnapping in the First Degree.
(a) A person commits the crime of kidnapping in the first degree if he or she abducts another person with intent to do any of the following:
(1) Hold him or her for ransom or reward.
(2) Use him or her as a shield or hostage.
(3) Accomplish or aid the commission of any felony or flight therefrom.
(4) Inflict physical injury upon him or her, or to violate or abuse him or her sexually.
(5) Terrorize him or her or a third person.
(6) Interfere with the performance of any governmental or political function.
(b) Kidnapping in the first degree is a Class A felony.
